Your Hostess Victoria
Simpson
A third
generation Kamloopsian and BC resident, Victoria moved back to the
Thompson-Okanagan in 1995 after living in different parts of Canada.
Her parents owned a home on the CPR hillside. In 1989 when she came
home for her brother's wedding she noticed the 'old house' was for
sale. It was purchased and her parents lived in the home until she
returned in 1995. Her mother, Joyce Simpson, ran it as the 'Blue
Manor Gallery' for a few years.
While
living in Prince Albert, AB, Victoria started taking University
fine art courses with George Glenn. This was a major shift in her
journey and opened up the potential for inner exploration through
drawing and painting. Victoria has added yet another layer of colour
and texture to this home's history.
A vague
dream of having the place as an artist's retreat became more of
a reality when a series of family crises left her face to face with
the dream. The house was opened as a B & B in the summer of
2000. With little to no advertising, just a few adventure seekers
found their way that first year, but those that came were pleased
with the find.
"Each
person brings the gift of who they are...and that gives me wings,"
says Victoria.
Testimonials
Hello Victoria,
I have to thank you for the most wonderful overnight stay we enjoyed with
you on our way to Vancouver Island. Our little turn in the road, turned
out to be the highlight of our vacation! It was so enjoyable to meet the
other interesting guests as well. I will send them a little note together
with the photographs we took of us on the deck. I will send you the
pictures too - on a separate note.
I have to ask for the delicious scone recipe. I have been talking to all
who will listen about your delicious food and warm home. You can expect to receive a few enquiries from my friends!
All the very best,
Adele
